I know this statement all too well! My treasure chest of emotional trauma I collected throughout my life was supposed to be carried away with enough external success.
We all have bullshit in our head that we use to justify decisions we make about our capabilities. We have all made the mistake of believing that an achievement will bring us what it is we feel we are missing. An, "I'll be happy moment", if you will.
My "I'll be happy moment" was a 6 figure income and a law degree.
This is exactly how I ended up at the height of my legal career suffering from panic attacks and anxiety attacks.
Why hadn't my life gotten better yet?
The question that started it all...
I felt like such a failure when all I had wanted was to be successful. My therapists response...
"You are the first person in your family to go to college. You are the first person in your family to go to graduate school. You have a successful career where you are respected and self sufficient. You have a family that loves you.
What does success mean to you?"
I was 34 years old and I had never answered that question. It's been 8 years since that moment. I've invested A LOT of time, energy and resources to answering that question and creating my definition of success. I've seen the massive impact, both personally and professionally, of the tools I have learned.
I have built two successful business, repaired relationships with my family, gained self-love and self-worth I didn't know I was missing, and created a level of success greater than I thought possible....

The first time I heard that quote, I was sure it was total bullshit. How can the people I'm around affect what or who I am?
What I have learned since is just how right Jim Rohn was. We make decisions about who we are, what we are capable of, and what is possible. And then, we spend our life looking for evidence of our beliefs.
The people we surround ourselves with will either confirm our beliefs or they will show us what is possible and what we are actually capable of creating.

The feelings we have about not belonging, the imposter syndrome, the procrastination, the analysis paralysis, is all part of the human experience and that, while you are unique in many ways, those are not one of them.
